Bono’s Boldness

I’ve always been skeptical of religious statements from pop stars. Like those foul-mouth rappers who get up at Grammy time and thank God for their success. Or low-cleavaged starlets who ooze gratitude to the Lord for making them famous. Bono got it right. Bono, leader of the U2, the band some say is the greatest of all time (Sorry, Mick.), has been known for his affinity regarding Christianity. But in a just-published interview he’s right out front with his faith. A boon from Bono. The sun-glassed-One declares to RTE One (the most-watched channel in Ireland), “Who was Christ? I don’t think you’re let off easily by saying he was a great thinker or great philosopher. Because, actually, he went around saying he was the Messiah. That’s why he was crucified. He was crucified because he said he was the Son of God. So, he either, in my view, was the Son of God or he was nuts. Forget rock-and-roll messianic complexes. I mean Charlie Manson-type delirium. And I find it hard to accept that all the millions and millions of lives, half the Earth, for 2,000 years have been touched, have felt their lives touched and inspired by some nutter. I don’t believe it.”

At last I’ve found what I’ve been looking for (inside reference): a public figure not afraid to stand up for Jesus. Contrast that to our President who claims to be a Christian and lectures evangelicals on the bad traits of Crusaders, to the delight of radical jihadists. Confessions of faith are rare in entertainment and politics, except when self-serving. The forces of evil can’t be happy with this, such a bold declaration from someone so famous. I pray that Bono, or some such significant public figure, will also embrace deliverance and proclaim freedom for those demonically bound. It could happen, and that will be the day the devil dances to a very different tune.

An encouraging word: DIVINERS LIE

Want to know why our society lies in such moral ruin? Blame the occult for a lot of cultural confusion. The ancient prophet Zechariah declared (10:2),”Diviners see visions that lie, they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep.” Remember that the next time you see psychics extolled or Tarot cards and astrology lauded for supposed insights. Divination is diabolical because it opens an individual’s life to demonic forces. It also leads the seeker of the unknown and forbidden down a trail of emotional and spiritual chaos.
